Empowering New Pathways in Tech: Inside ReDI Malmö’s AI for Inclusion Program
In today’s digital economy, access to tech education is a game-changer. Yet, many aspiring professionals in our ReDI Malmö community face barriers such as cost, limited mentorship, and lack of workplace exposure. That’s why ReDI School of Digital Integration Malmö has partnered with Microsoft and designed a program to equip learners with the technical skills, industry connections, and confidence they need to succeed in the tech world.
Why this program matters
The demand for tech talent is growing, but many underrepresented communities remain excluded from the opportunities this field provides. ReDI Malmö is bridging that gap by providing top-tier training, hands-on experience through labs, and access to an extensive network of tech professionals. This spring semester, we are proud to have 40 learners in the AI for Inclusion program, each taking their first steps toward a career in tech.

The program in action
With Microsoft’s support, the AI for Inclusion program provides industry-aligned tech training that covers fields like Data Analytics and AI, Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity. True to ReDI School’s values of co-creation, the courses are facilitated by incredible professionals in the field who volunteer their time and expertise to share knowledge and provide real-world insights. Their dedication and guidance play a crucial role in creating an enriching learning environment that equips students with both technical skills and the confidence to succeed. Students have the opportunity to be paired with mentors who guide them through their learning journey.
The program also offers two impactful workshops: How to Use AI as a Learning and Development Coach, which focuses on using AI tools to accelerate one’s learning path forward, and Empower and Elevate: Finding Clarity and Confidence in Your Tech Journey, designed to help students build the confidence and mindset necessary to succeed in tech careers.
As part of the project, students will visit Microsoft Copenhagen, where they will experience life at one of the world’s leading tech companies and meet professionals working in the field. They will also take part in an AI Hub Day, exploring the relationship between Cybersecurity, AI, and Data, and discussing the implications these technologies have on human beings, communities, and workplaces.
A week before the courses started, we welcomed our Microsoft partners for a meaningful gathering with our students and tutors; many of whom are ReDI alumni continuing their upskilling. During this gathering, our learners shared their personal journeys into Swedish society, the workplace, and the tech industry. We had important conversations about opportunities, challenges, and how Microsoft and its partners can continue to support our aspiring tech professionals.

Our learners looking ahead & how you can get involved
At ReDI School, we often witness inspiring journeys of transformation such as the one of our learners Sibusisiwe Mbilini who is pursuing her goals within our community. “I’m a driven single mom transitioning from hospitality into tech, with a passion for cybersecurity sparked during my Front End Development studies,” she shares. “Now I’m pursuing my goals through ReDI School, where I’m thriving in a supportive environment that empowers both my personal growth and my son’s wellbeing.”
Another inspiring voice is Kaukab Farrukh, a dedicated full stack and app developer with a strong foundation in Data Analytics and AI. Her journey began at ReDI School Malmö in March 2023, where she took her first steps in Data Analytics. “The support and opportunities at ReDI have been instrumental in propelling me forward,” Kaukab says. Today, she not only builds software across various platforms but also gives back by volunteering as a tech teacher in our Data & AI course, sharing her skills and passion with the community.
These stories reflect what ReDI is all about: creating access, building confidence, and empowering learners to shape not just their futures, but the futures of those around them.
As we aim to scale this initiative, we invite industry leaders, professionals, and organizations across sectors to join our mission. Whether through funding, mentorship, or being an ambassador, your involvement will help us empower even more aspiring tech talent. A heartfelt thank you to Microsoft for their invaluable support in making this program a reality. If you would like to learn more or get involved, reach out at malmo@redi-school.org today!
