Course Overview
Join our 18-week UX Design Bootcamp, where you'll master everything from user research to creating web and mobile interfaces using Figma. Through four intensive projects, you'll develop real-world skills in design, prototyping, and usability testing. The program includes job readiness training, where you'll craft a professional LinkedIn profile, CV, and portfolio. Commit 20 hours per week to live sessions, coaching sessions, and self-study on your project. This bootcamp is perfect if you're English-proficient, ready to work independently on your project, and eager to start a career in UX/UI design.
-
Introduction to UX Design: Dive into usability and user experience basics, explore ethical issues, and learn key psychological principles. You'll also learn about design processes like User-Centered and Human-Centered Design, Design Thinking, Agile, and Scrum, along with using tools like Figma.
Project 1 - User Research: Define your research objectives, choose the right methods, and conduct user interviews and surveys. You'll apply what you've learned in real-world usability tests.
Project 2 - Mobile Application: Start with competitive analysis, then move on to designing wireframes and prototypes for iOS and Android platforms. You'll refine your designs based on comprehensive usability testing.
Project 3 - Web Application: From initial user research to the final presentation, develop your web application with thorough wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing, ensuring every element meets user needs.
Project 4 - Job Readiness: In the final project, you create a powerful LinkedIn profile, CV, and portfolio, work on a design challenge, and learn how to apply for your first job.
-
You are fluent in understanding and speaking English.
You can commit to at least 20 hours per week, including classes and self-study, and maintain at least 80% attendance to graduate.
You have an understanding of the UX/UI labor market and are aiming for a career in this field.
You can work independently on projects. This requires the majority of the 20 hours each week.
Recommended resources to understand the course content:
-
Projects: Over 18 weeks, engage with four distinct projects, each spanning four weeks. Work independently and receive ongoing feedback from coaches and peers.
Weekly Sessions: Participate in three weekly sessions. Keep in mind that this is not a classical lecture-style course. The focus is on active participation. 80% of attendance and project completion is required for graduation.
Weekly Milestones: Each week you work on a weekly milestone where you apply the newly learned concepts in your project. Working on the weekly milestone requires most of this course's 20-hour weekly time commitment. If you don’t have 20 hours a week to work on your project, this course might be too intense for you.
Hybrid: Depending on whether you are based in Hamburg, Berlin, or NRW, different on-site activities occur. In Hamburg, one session a month is on-site. In Berlin and NRW, you can join on-site community events. All other sessions are online via Zoom.
Active Work: Note this is NOT a passive, lecture-style environment. Each learner is expected to be self-driven and motivated to code and work hands-on each week on the project. ReDI to start coding? Then join us!
-
Monday: Every Monday from 19:00 to 21:00, you have a Q&A session in which you can ask any questions about your project. Furthermore, you practice the concepts with a hands-on activity with the teachers.
Wednesday: Every Wednesday from 19:00 to 21:00, you have a coaching session where you present your weekly milestone (part of your project) to a coach and receive guidance and support to complete it.
Thursday: Every Thursday from 19:00 to 21:00, you have an input session during which the teachers introduce new concepts.
Friday - Monday: You work on your weekly project milestone. That means you will be coding hands-on by yourself. If you run into problems, you can contact your class on Slack. You complete the milestone before Wednesday to present it in the session.
